About me

Where to begin… Oh!

I got introduced to the hobby about 3 years ago (2022) and started off with battle companies. It’s a great way to get new players into the game. It’s small scale, understandable, and you always have something to look forward or progress to. After our campaign ended, I started doing regular matched play battles and from that point I was utterly hooked on MESBG. I was impressed by the strategic and tactical depth of the game. With every battle I learned something new and to this day I’m not nearly done learning.

After about a year of battling my friends I took a leap of faith and signed up for my first tourney, and had a blast! I never expected to receive such an open welcome to the community, it’s like we are all introvert nerds who love LOTR, who would have guessed. From then on I tried signing up for more tourneys, it was great for learning even more about the hobby and doing battles. Being exposed to not just your friend group but battling a diversity of people is a great way to expand your MESBG knowledge and see how different armies play. If you’re always playing against the same people and armies your own tactics can become a bit stale. So I would recommend everyone to attend a tourney at least once. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Seeing all the TO’s (tournament organizers), and community who provided terrain, putting to much effort into the hobby, I wondered how I could contribute myself. I like playing too much to be a TO, and I don’t have much terrain to provide (yet). So with this blog, I want to contribute by opening discussion and providing insight into topics with my, so far gathered and limited, experience. You probably won’t agree with me on some topics or have a different viewpoint entirely, which is absolutely fine. I invite you to post your opinion and engage in the discussion, please feel free to share!
